Gary said after picking up the awards “It’s a great honour to be nominated alongside such an abundance of talent but to come away a double winner feels amazing.”

Gary set to play Country 2 Country in London
Northern Irish country artist Gary Quinn has been announced to join an eclectic selection of up-and-coming acts to appear on the Pop-Up Stages at Country to Country (C2C) taking place in The O2 Arena, London in March. These shows are free and will follow the huge success of last year’s gigs where the cream of new talent were given a stage to showcase their talents and prove that country music has a very strong future in the UK.
There is no shortage of talent on offer as all the artists on the Pop-Up Stages have really worked hard to earn their places at the festival. Gary, from Omagh now living in Manchester, was a recent recipient of the ‘UK Song of the Year’ at the British Country Music Awards and continues to get positive reviews for his debut album with editor of Country Music People magazine Duncan Warwick saying;
“If there’s a writer from this side of the pond capable of a career as a tunesmith on Music Row, Gary Quinn is it..”
Quinn joins Jill and Kate from Nashville who have toured internationally as Kelly Clarkson’s backing singers, Jill Johnson who is a platinum selling artist in her native Sweden and Striking Matches who are currently in the UK courtesy of the Nashville Convention and Vistors Corporation and will appear as part of the recently announced CMA Songwriters Series on Friday 14th March. The CMA Songwriters Series will be something that is familiar to fans of Quinn as he shared the stage with Bob DiPiero and Kristian Bush when the show last visited Europe in Feb 2013 as part of the Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival.
“To be selected to perform the Pop-Up Stages at this year’s C2C is something I’m extremely proud of and I’m really excited to share my music with all the country music fans that will visit London in March. To be playing the same day as country mega stars Brad Paisley, The Rascal Flatts, Chris Young and The Band Perry is a real honour and an opportunity I intend to grab with both hands!”
You can catch Gary for free on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th March (full band) on the Town Square Pop-Up Stage in the O2. Tickets are still available for the evening show on the Sunday via the following links www.gigsandtours.com/tour/c2c-country-to-country or www.axs.com/c2c
Country star Gary bags ‘Song of the Year’!!
John McCusker (Ulsterherald)
OMAGH singer-songwriter Gary Quinn was celebrating this week after picking up the ‘Song of the Year’ title at last weekend’s British Country Music Awards in London.
Gary’s performance of his self-penned, ‘He Don’t Show Her Anymore’ was voted tops by judges at the awards ceremony in the Concorde Suite at Heathrow on Sunday night. The singer – who is currently based in Wigan – plans to return home for Christmas and already has his sights on furthering his career into 2014. “It’s been a while coming, but I’m delighted,” Gary said after picking up the award. “It really lifts you and puts you on a pedestal.” This is the second year that Gary has been nominated for the British Country Music Awards. Last year he was in the category ‘Best Horizon Act’ for up-and-coming artistes. This year he was nominated in the ‘Solo Artist’ and ‘Song of the Year’ categories. “It is a big thing for the industry. The place was packed with 500 people with a lot of influential people and the likes of Sony and O2 Events represented,” Gary explains.
Among those performing on the night were Charlie Landsborough, Henry Smith, Pete Kennedy and Grammy-nominated U.S. singer/ songwriter Billy Yates who was on tour over here last week. Gary performed two songs on the night – the award-winning ‘He Don’t Show Her Anymore’ and ‘I Love To Watch You Leave.’ “I said this time last year that it would be great to be back performing and to win an award and I’ve done both. “It was fantastic and I got such a buzz from performing before such an audience. Then to top it off, the winning of the ‘Song of the Year’ was just the icing on the cake.” It has been exciting packed year for Gary – from touring with the band, to launching the album and performing at a series festival concerts. Now this win caps a hugely successful 2013. “To be recognised in this manner is fantastic,” he says. “This is an industry-voted award and holds a lot of credibility. I plan to use it when I approach the likes of radio stations and venues and hopefully it will be a huge door-opener for me.”
